Review of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic: Stress measurement and many other features
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic has the same appearance as previous generations of Galaxy Watches. However, the rotating bezel is present in this year’s Classic version.Smartwatches are now mainstream. In fact, wearing an analogue watch these days makes you stand out, and people will look at you like you’ve fallen on hard times. The fact remains that the technology has not changed significantly over the past few years, despite the fact that more users around the world are switching to smartwatches of all colours, styles, and price points. All businesses are currently focusing on enhancing the functionality of their products and enhancing the features they provide. Another significant turning point in this journey is the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.
Review of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic: What’s New
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic has the same appearance as previous generations of Galaxy Watches. But this year’s Classic version includes a rotating bezel, which, while it may seem quaint in concept (I had a watch with one in school), has been brilliantly adapted for the digital age. The bezel, which can be used to move through and inside screens and is more accessible than a crown, feels like a very natural way to navigate a smartwatch. Samsung has used the bezel in a really inventive way, giving it the ability to control almost everything on the watch. The Watch 6’s sapphire crystal display is one of the largest I’ve ever used in a smartwatch, measuring 3.73 cm. As one of the available apps, the browser is large enough for you to even browse websites on the screen while giving you the space to see multiple data posts on your watch face. I’ve never noticed that in other watches.Samsung is also introducing fast charging, even though the Watch 6 Classic has a larger 425 mAh battery. The Watch 6 can be fully charged using a standard Samsung wall charger in 30 to 40 minutes.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is put to use.
I have to admit that I have been an Apple Watch user for quite some time, and it is a little difficult for me to switch, especially since my doctor monitors a lot of the health data to help me keep my blood sugar levels under control. Even so, switching was not that difficult because the Galaxy Watch 6 has all the same features as the Apple Watch, despite the fact that some of the tracking apps I use are not compatible with WearOS.The Watch 6 weighs almost 60 grammes and is substantial. The watch felt quite comfortable and natural once I put it on, despite my initial reservations about the size. The rubber strap feels comfortable and is made of a material I don’t mind wearing to bed because of its faux leather appearance. Although it appears a little too bright when you’re in a movie theatre or getting ready for bed, the screen is bright and ideal for use in all kinds of conditions.
I quickly made use of the bezel as my main method of watch interaction, so little use was made of the two buttons on the right side of the watch. Swipes and slides on the screen respond quickly, even when there is some moisture or water on the screen, and it is at this point that you realise the depth of the notifications offered by WearOS. Almost all phone notifications, including weather alerts and other crucial information, can be received here. The control centre, which can be reached by swiping downward, is similarly intuitive to the one on your Android phone. When compared to the Apple Watch, the notifications on this device dominate the screen and easier to consume.
Despite all the features a smartwatch can have, the fitness layer is the one that most people use it for. This is currently the most significant feature of a smartwatch for me as well.I used the Watch 6 while going for my usual walks around my neighbourhood. According to Apple Watch’s mapping and other devices I’ve used over the years, a single circuit is exactly 1.6 km long. This data was the same on the Watch 6 as well. I could complete my daily 300 kcal workout on the Watch 6 in the exact same amount of time because my calorie burn and step count for the same were similar. This confirms the accuracy of the data in my opinion.Additionally, I thought the Watch 6’s sleep data was pretty accurate, especially considering how cosy it was to wear while sleeping. Your sleep score, the frequency of your wake-ups, and even whether you snore at night are all provided by the phone app. Fortunately, I wasn’t snoring, but my sleep quality could have been much better. It’s interesting to note that after a few days, the app even identifies the type of sleeper you are. This monitors body temperature and breathing patterns while you sleep, so you have enough information to share with your physician if they share my belief that sleep plays a significant role in your overall health.
This watch has a lot more features. Sadly, India did not have access to the blood pressure or ECG monitor apps. I could still use the Qaly app for ECG, though. The fact that it showed me to be relatively stress-free most of the time made the stress measurements quite useful in my opinion. However, despite the fact that I did not feel stressed, a reading from this morning showed a high level of stress. The app’s suggestion to engage in some breathing exercises to reduce stress is the best part of this situation. The Samsung Fitness app actually offers you more recommendations in addition to ongoing challenges that you can take on to push yourself towards a fitter lifestyle. However, I’ve never been into them. My main motivation is to try to reduce my lap time by a few seconds each time, and the Watch 6 is constantly encouraging you to improve.
I should also add that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 is the only smartwatch I’ve used to use WhatsApp, which is awesome. Yes, you can receive notifications from other smartwatches as well. In my opinion, this is the most annoying feature to have on your wrist. Not at all like that. You can find contacts or chats and continue from there with Watch 6’s full WhatsApp app on your wrist. It is similar to WhatsApp Web in many ways, but on your watch. You can always visit the Samsung App Store and download additional apps to help you with your problems. In this regard, I believe WearOS devices have an advantage over Apple WatchOS, which hasn’t gotten many new specialised apps over the past couple of years. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic lasts just over two days on a full charge, which is almost on par with the Apple Watch Ultra. But even on short trips, you’ll need to bring the charger because the battery might drain more quickly if you fiddle with the screen excessively.
Is the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic a good investment?
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, which has a starting price of Rs 26,999, is one of the best smartwatches available and unquestionably your best choice if you are a Samsung fan because it even allows you to control other home appliances. This watch stands out to me for its simplicity of use, breadth of data, and understated design. What else could a smart watch possibly need? To benefit from the convenience of this rotating bezel, I would advise you to spend a little bit more money on the Classic, but don’t forget to double-check the size that’s right for you.
